We've done it... By the seat of our pants!
At Google our mission is to organize the world's information and make it
useful and accessible. However, we recognize that people do not sit in front of a computer screen all day. This fact has long prevented Google from reaching many markets with our search results and AdWord advertisements. That's why we're pleased to announce FadSense (BETA)™ with
Geo Referencing™ (LIMITED RELEASE), a line of "wearable ad sponsored clothes" designed
to make a fashion statement while earning our wearers extra income.
It's Not a Fad, It's FadSense.
Wearable Computers are the wave of the future. With Google's FadSense™ we've enabled 'Brand Advertisement' and 'Point of Sale' functions on the go.
Powering this market are advancements in design and in fabric-embedded electronics. Google expects these next generation wearable fashions to become commonplace within a few years.
The system works by equipping FadSense™ participants with a cellphone size wearable computer device configured with wireless network connectivity; the fabric screen is about as thick as three human hairs and displays limited color text on a whitish background with a resolution similar to that of a typical laptop computer screen.
The fabric screen is so flexible, FadSense™ can be worn on most clothing and in most situations without losing its image quality. It is either sewn on the fabric or attached with Velcro depending on the garment. And yes, it is also washable.
"Geo Referencing" with a GPS chip allows the FadSense™ participant to provide dynamic ads based on their location plus we combine other situational factors to determining optimum ad context.
Ready to Make a Fashion Statement?
Participation is on a limited basis during our beta release. But it won't be long before everyone is touting FadSense fashions. Google plans to expand this technology for use in other wearable applications in the future. Imagine your jacket with a screen sewn into its sleeve to allow you to read e-mail while on the run, check stock prices or access Google maps in an unfamiliar city. Google FadSense™ is only our first step into fashion.
Google FadSense and Your Privacy
From time to time, in order to improve Google FadSense usefulness
for our users, Google FadSense will send packets of data from your clothing to the FadPlex™, server farm. Except for Google employees, no individuals other than, What Not to Wear fashion consults Stacy London and Clinton Kelly will be given your fashion habits data. Whether you are wearing your FadSense clothing (or not) you can feel private, safe, and secure with our privacy policies. See our Privacy
Policy.
